Massimo Alfaioli was born in Tuscany and spent his childhood in a small town surrounded by greenery, on the banks of the Arno river.

During these years he matured his love for nature, constant source of inspiration.

After graduating he moved to Milan to study comics, at the ‘Scuola del Fumetto’.

He took his first steps as illustrator in the world of children's publishing, collaborating with many Italian publishing houses.

His style evolved over the years and later he also dedicated himself to new sectors of illustration, aimed at a wider audience.

The result are covers for books and magazines, collaborations with brands such as Coop, illustrations for newspapers such as ‘Corriere della Sera’, and advertising campaigns.

Among his most recent productions is 'Lo Scrigno degli Oracoli', a box  published by Giunti containing 78 divination cards and 'Flora' tarots.

At the same time his passion for the world of plants, and in particular roses, grows.

After graduating as a gardener at the ‘Scuola Agraria del Parco di Monza' he dedicated himself to the study of the history and botanical aspects of this fascinating flower that he cultivates and hybridizes in his garden and to which he dedicates many of his' botanical portraits. '.

Roses are also the starting point for another of his passions: that for perfumes, which he discovers thanks to his interest for the rose essence.

Hence the collaborations with various Italian and foreign brands of perfumery (A Lab on Fire, Mendittorosa, St Clair, etc.), advertising campaigns, and illustrations for blogs and magazines.

An exhibition was also dedicated to these works: 'Il Profumo Illustrato’ (Bologna 2018).

Among the other exhibitions we mention: 'Secret Nature', together with the artist Marco Scarici, where he exhibits a selection of portraits, flowers and landscapes, ‘Le storie illustrate di Massimo Alfaioli’, a retrospective of his works for publishing and 'Tracce', where he explores the Tuscan territory through a series of landscapes.

The latter inaugurates the collaboration with the 'Art Gallery in Tuscany by Cora' which has represented him ever since and with which he is preparing an upcoming exhibition for spring 2024.
